Annual Winterfest set for Feb. 28

Posted Feb 5, 2010 By EMC News

EMC Events - This is the season, and this is the reason for celebrating our wonderful climate with outdoor activities.

Percy and Penny Penguin have emailed the Stittsville Village Association to say that they will be here after attending the opening of the Olympics. Watch for them as they make their annual visits to the village.

On Sunday, Feb. 28 the activities are set to take place at Ralph Street Park on Ralph Park Avenue. The events get underway at noon with broomball, jam can curling, sleigh rides, chicken bowling, snowshoeing, and the return of the bed races.

The gauntlet has been thrown down, are you ready? The Stittsville Village Association has issued the challenge to all organizations and businesses to take part in the annual bed races at this year's Winterfest.

The beds are provided - all you need are four pushers and one rider. Helmets must be worn.

The group raising the most funds will receive the honour of being the best fundraisers at Winterfest. Half of the funds to a charity of your choice and half to the SVA to help provide future Canada Day, Villagefest, Parade of Lights and Winterfest events.

Come along and join in the fun of Stittsville's Winterfest 2010!
