Ottawa Traffic OPP charge man with stunt driving
Posted Mar 5, 2010 By EMC NewsEMC News - On Feb. 19, an Ottawa Traffic Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 417 eastbound near Woodroffe exit when he noticed a vehicle catching up to him at a high rate of speed in the fast lane at approximately 8:52 p.m.
The officer was able to obtain an alleged speed of 170 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone. The officer stopped a 2002 four-door grey BMW 500 series being driven by an Ottawa resident.
Saeed Davish, 21 has been charged with the following:
- Stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act,
- Speeding 170 Km/H in a Posted 100 Km/H Zone Under the Highway Traffic Act.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver's licence was also seized for seven days.
SALT TRUCK OPERATOR CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED
On Feb. 19, OPP officers responded to a driving complaint eastbound on Highway 417 at approximately 9:30 p.m. near Eagleson Rd. The driver of the salt truck was allegedly having difficulty remaining in the lane and was weaving back and forth.
OPP officers were able to stop the vehicle on Iris Street. Trevor Howard, 41, of Ottawa was arrested for numerous violations:
- Impaired Operation - Criminal Code of Canada,
- Over 80 mg - Criminal Code of Canada,
- Possession of a Substance - Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
- Drive While Under Suspension - Highway Traffic Act,
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor - Liquor Licence Act,
- Consuming Liquor in other than licensed premises, residence or private place - Liquor Licence Act.
The accused is to appear in court on April 13.
DRIVING COMPLAINTS LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
On Feb. 18, OPP officers received numerous complaints about an impaired driver heading west on Highway 417 near the Bronson exit at approximately 10:14 p.m. The driver was weaving back and forth causing other motorists to swerve in order to avoid the 2010 grey Chevrolet Impala.
OPP officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver.
Bernard May, 47, of Fanwood, New Jersey USA has been charged with the following:
- Impaired Operation - Criminal Code of Canada
- Over 80 mg - Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is to appear in court on April 14.
