Hazeldean Road expansion underway

Posted Mar 15, 2010 By Sarah Kelfold

The $65 million Hazeldean Road construction is the biggest infrastructure project for the City of Ottawa through the Federal Economic Stimulus Fund Program.
The project will see Hazeldean Road widened from Terry Fox Drive to Carp Road, in two construction phases, and as per conditions of the federal stimulus funding, construction must be substantially complete by March 31, 2011.
In order to complete this project, the city has separated construction into two segments. The first phase, contracted by Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd. of Ashton, is between Terry Fox Drive and Iber Road. The second phase, contracted by Graydex Ottawa Inc., is between Iber Road and Carp Road.
The city and contractors urge the public to “obey the traffic signs and drive with caution, with particular attention to pedestrians, through the site, since it is everyone's wish to complete the project in a timely manner with minimal disruption to the community, your cooperation and patience is appreciated.”
The city and contractors have released construction updates, and, along with the contractors, appreciates your patience throughout the construction.
For the full update, check out the March 19 issue of the EMC.
