Stittsville Legion News: Legion band set to play for Canada Day

On June 8, euchre was played at the Legion Hall, with Rachel Senechal having the most lone hands. Mildred Mayer had the ladies high score with Sally Beaton placing second.

The men's high score was won by Win Burchill with George Beattie as the runner-up. Joan Benoit had the low score with Wayne Pilon having the hidden score. The door prizes were won by Ron Phillips and Randy Clouthier.

EVENING EUCHRE

By Pat Fitspatrick: On Thursday, June 3, brought out 39 players. First place went to Carol Brown, second to Theresa Davidson and a tie for third went to Bill Watson and Win Burchill. Nicky Burchill had the low score while the door prizes went to Noreen Vawer, Anne Forbes and Jackie Ralph. Last week on May 27 first, second and third places respectively, went to Garnett Vaughn, Norm Legault and Anne Williams. Low score went to Viviane Lester and the door prizes were won by Joe Wilson, Jim Cathcart and Judy Campbell. Thanks go to Noreen Vawer for bringing in a desert tray. Join us Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.

COMING EVENTS

Euchre is played every Tuesday starting at 1:15p.m. at the Legion Hall.

Evening Euchre will be held every Thursday evening except when Legion general meetings are held. Please NOTE there are NO general meetings in July or August at which time there WILL be Euchre.

Bingo is played every Wednesday starting at 6:45p.m. Everyone in the community is welcome to participate in these events.

INFORMATION

The Stittsville Legion Concert Band and the Legion Dance Band are both scheduled to perform at the Stittsville Canada Day festivities this year.

The Concert Band is starting at 3 p.m. with the National Anthem and dignitaries, as is the Legion Colour Party with the Dance Band starting at 5 p.m. We hope to see you all at the Goulborn Recreation Centre on July 1, Canada Day.

Mark these dates for Steak nights on you calendar. July 16th and the 30th and August 13 and 27.

We are always looking for help on these nights.

Our Annual Duffers Golf Tournament is coming together well.

This year we decided to name the Scramble in honour of our great member "John Leroux".

The proceeds will go to the Rory Bradley Memorial Bursary. We will be playing at the Richmond Centennial course on August 12 with a 12:30 shot gun start. Registration is $55, includes golf, cart, barbeque steak dinner and lots of prizes.

The course has a limited amount of golf carts so, first come first served. We welcome those who like to walk. T
