Former reeve looks to return to politics
Posted Jul 29, 2010 By Ted StrikeDear Editor:
Your readers of this newspaper will probably have noted my occasional letter expressing concerns about various matters concerning town affairs in recent times. The items that I wrote about have been particularly troubling to me as a resident of Arnprior.
The only recourse that I have had for any input of my opinions to Council have been through the gratuitous use of the printed press, and I thank you for that. However, this input has its limitations.
It has become apparent that I am not alone in my concerns. During my daily walks with my wife Bev, I am frequently stopped to be complimented on my writing efforts and the layman terms in which I have expressed my opinions. Their comments have been extremely supportive.
I am fortunate to have the background of a long association with this town as a previous Director of Public works and two-time member of council. With this in mind, I have given some serious and lengthy consideration to returning to municipal politics and have decided to put my name and experience before the voting public for consideration for the office of councillor in the upcoming fall election. I will be filing my papers before the end of this month.
