Subdivision plans for Fernbank lands
Posted Feb 16, 2012 By John CurryEMC News - Subdivision plans are slowly coming forward for areas in the Fernbank lands south of Hazeldean Road and east of the existing Stittsville community.
Monarch Developments has submitted a plan of subdivision for a parcel of land fronting on Fernbank Road. This proposed plan of subdivision includes 565 housing units comprised of 315 single family homes, 158 townhomes and 92 stacked townhomes or low rise apartments.
This subdivision conforms to the Community Design Plan which was developed for the Fernbank lands. Another plan of subdivision has been submitted for a 70 lot development also fronting on Fernbank Road. It is also considered to conform to the Community Design Plan developed for the Fernbank lands.
The Stittsville Village Association (SVA), which monitors development in the Stittsville area, has no concerns with regard to these two proposed subdivisions.
"There are no surprises in these ones as far as we are aware," SVA president Marilyn Jenkins commented when these two subdivisions were discussed at the SVA's executive meeting on Thursday, Feb. 9. She said that both fall within the guidelines of the Community Design Plan covering the Fernbank lands.
