EMC News - Jean-Pierre (J.P.) Beaulne of Stittsville was a key member and leader of the Knights of Columbus Council at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. So it was only appropriate and fitting that his funeral at the church last Friday, Feb. 10 included the presence of a Knights of Columbus fourth degree colour party.

The over 400 who attended the funeral service heard Jean-Pierre's brother Roland, the last survivor of five brothers in the family, deliver a tribute that portrayed Jean-Pierre as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He told about the active childhood which Jean-Pierre, born in 1942, and he shared before they went their separate ways, with Jean-Pierre joining the Royal Canadian Air Force and he himself entering the banking industry.

Jean-Pierre went on to complete a 35 year career in the Air Force, retiring in 1995 as a Lieutenant-Colonel.

He was active in the Stittsville community, not only in his church with the Knights of Columbus, as an usher, as head of the collection counters, as a member of the finance and parish councils and as a member of the building committee, but also as a volunteer at the Granite Ridge long term care facility and as a volunteer with the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, not only as a Board member but also serving as a transportation volunteer.

He and his wife Mary Ann, to whom he was married for 48 years, had four children - two boys and two girls as well as ten grandchildren.

Rev. Ross Finlan, pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, presided at the funeral service which was followed by a reception in the parish hall.
